On June 4, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the use of the English language in Ukraine  by a majority vote.

This law establishes the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine.

The law defines the categories of official positions, in which the knowledge of English is mandatory.

According to the new law, the knowledge of the English language is mandatory for government officials, senior military and police personnel, prosecutors, customs and tax officials, and other categories.

Financing of the English language learning by citizens of Ukraine will be carried out at the expense of state and local budgets and other sources not prohibited by law.

It is worth noting that the law will be introduced gradually – after the cancellation or termination of the martial law.
