On June 19, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported in the first reading the draft law on the military police. The draft law received 247 votes.

The bill envisages the creation of the military police, which will receive law enforcement functions and become part of the security and defense sector.

The military police must ensure law and order and military discipline in the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces, and the State Special Transport Service.

The coordination of military police activities will be carried out by the Cabinet of Ministers through the Minister of Defense, and during martial law – by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
