Zelensky backs top aide amid criticism: ‘A powerful manager’

In his interview with Bloomberg Television, Ukraine’s president addressed reports claiming that his top aide, Andriy Yermak, wields ‘too much influence’. Zelensky lauded Yermak’s work, calling him a ‘very effective manager’.
“I respect him for his efficiency. He does what I tell him and carries out those tasks.’
Zelensky suggested Russia can be behind the campaign targeting Yermak as the Kremlin wants to “weaken his team.‘
“Unfortunately, not only Russians want to weaken the Ukrainian president. The weak president is seen as an opportunity to snatch a piece of the Ukrainian territory and get in the way of Ukraine joining the EU, and it is the opportunity to silence me and get to have another person at the helm of Ukraine, the person who will hardly have any influence on the society. It is seen as a task from many in the world. This is what it comes down to.’
Zelensky’s one-hour interview for Bloomberg Television came as Ukraine’s president tries to shore up support for his ‘peace plan’.
