President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the law on determining the use of the English language in Ukraine. From now on, English is officially established as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine.

The law defines the positions and offices that require the knowledge of the English language. Among them, there are officials, military officers, police officers of the middle and higher ranks, etc.

The law also provides for the budgetary support for cinemas showing English-language films.

The Ministry of Education and Science will have to organize a free exam to test the knowledge of English.

President Zelensky submitted this law to the Verkhovna Rada last year, but the parliament adopted it in the second reading only on June 4 this year.
