Zelensky promises expansion of the Black Sea maritime corridor ‘capabilities’

In his statement on Wednesday, Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the issue of global food security arguing Ukraine agricultural exports remain a crucial issue for many countries across the world.

At least 2,500 cargo ships entered Ukrainian ports this year as part of the Grain from Ukraine effort. The Ukrainian leader promised Kyiv will be “expanding the capabilities” of this maritime exports corridor in the Black Sea adding that it has already helped the country transport at least  70 million tons of shipments.

“Our Ukrainian shipments are is being received by ports in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Countries from Egypt to Indonesia, from Tunisia and Libya to India, from Algeria to China have received our Ukrainian grain,” the president added.

The “Grain from Ukraine” initiative became part of the international relief effort that helped “hundreds of thousands of families and millions of people in Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen, and Sudan.
