Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said he is confident ‘everything is going according to our Ukrainian plan” in the Kursk region after Russian troops launched a counteroffensive in this western region on Thusday.

During a joint press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda in Kyiv, Zelensky acknowledged the beginning of Russian counteroffensive operations in the Kursk region saying that Kyiv keeps an eye on the troop buildup and is ‘monitoring the process’

Earlier this day,  Russia’s defense ministry issued a statement arguing its troops have recaptured several key locations.

“During offensive operations carried out by the ‘Sever’ (North) military group, 10 settlements were liberated over the past two days. These include Apanasovka, Byakhovo, Vishnyovka, Viktorovka, Vnezapnoe, Gordeevka, Krasnooktyabrskoye, Obukhovka, Snagost, and 10th of October,” reads its statement.
