On Friday, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky visited the border region of Sumy, where he held a meeting with the commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the regional governor Volodymyr Artiukh.

During the meeting, Syrskyi provided an update on the situation in the border regions, including Kharkiv, Donetsk, the southern regions.

Syrskyi said that the Ukrainian troops are reinforce defensive positions in Pokrovsk and Toretsk sectors where the most intense fighting is taking place.

The Kursk operation saw Ukrainian forces take control of another settlement, which allowed to seize more POWs for future prisoner swaps.

In his report, the regional governor argued the incursion into the Kursk region helped reduce Russian bombardments  in Sumy.

The meeting also addressed coordination between the military, police, and the State Emergency Service in the border areas, which must help humanitarian convoys in the Kursk region.
