On Wednesday, Ukraine’s government approved an increase in financial compensations to the families whose members were killed or wounded in combat. The new policy raises payments for service members who have suffered injuries or disabilities, as well as for the families of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
According to the updated policy, soldiers who sustain injuries leading to disability will now receive:
-
- Group I disability: $290,168
- Group II disability: $235,012
- Group III disability: $179,856
If a soldier dies, his or her family will receive ve 22.71 million UAH ($544,604).
Applications for compensation can be submitted to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs either in paper form or digitally via the Diia portal. Payments will be processed in order of application submission. This move is part of Ukraine’s continued efforts to support its military personnel and their families during the ongoing conflict.
