Ukraine’s new foreign minister Andriy Sybiha have had a one-on-one meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó on Monday.  Accoridng to reports, the talks, initially set for half an hour, stretched to about an hour before the diplomats switched into a larger format involving both delegations.

Sybiha is currently on an official visit to Hungary, with September 30 marking a crucial day for discussions.

The key topics on the agenda include strengthening “neighborly relations”, implementation of joint projects in economy, border infrastructure, protection of minority rights, and Ukraine’s integration into the EU and NATO. Another focal point is unsurprisingly  Zelensky’s Peace Formula, which is touted by Kyiv as a fair resolution to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

After the talks, both foreign ministers are expected to make public statements.

This visit to Hungary is part of Sybiha’s first regional tour as Ukraine’s newly appointed foreign minister. His goal is to establish a “pragmatic and predictable neighborly policy” while advancing Ukraine’s strategic aspirations for EU and NATO membership.
