A wave of bomb threats roll across Ukraine – reports

On October 14, reports flooded in from across Ukraine about the mass bomb threats targeting schools, city councils, and governmental offices. Law enforcement and specialized bomb squads are inspecting these sites for potential explosive devices.

In Vinnytsia, police spokesperson Zarina Maevska confirmed that several schools were targeteb by bomb scares. Explosive technicians and canine units are currently conducting checks, according to Suspilne.

In Kyiv, bomb threats led to the temporary suspension of the Higher Council of Justice’s operations, with employees being evacuated. Additionally, Ukrinform reported threats to Kyiv’s School No. 217 and the office of Liga.net.

In Lviv, anonymous threats were made against School No. 10 and the Lviv Polytechnic College, while the mayor of Zhovkva confirmed a threat to the city council, though no explosives were found.

Sumy experienced reports of bomb threats at 10 government institutions, including the Zarechnyi court, the education department, and a treasury office.

In Zaporizhzhia, over 30 reports of bomb threats targeting businesses and institutions were received, according to a local news portal.

Other regions, including Zakarpattia, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Rivne, and Khmelnytskyi, were also affected by multiple bomb threats, causing widespread disruptions as authorities conducted extensive checks. Many of the threats were made to educational institutions and critical infrastructure sites.

The National Police said the wave of threats could be part of a broader psychological operation that seeks to “destabilize the country”.
