Ukraine’s health ministry said on Wednesday that the senior officials of the soon-to-be-dissolved Medical-Social Expert Commissions (MSEC) will not be eligible to apply for jobs in a new govermental agency. By contrast, MSEC doctors may apply for hospital positions starting January 1, 2025, provided they are practicing clinicians. This policy will ensure the new office will have true medical experts.

In October, law enforcement agencies have cracked down on MSEC corruption schemes after a scandal erupted in Khmelnytskyi regional office where doctors were caught offering local officials fake disability certificates that allowed exemptions from the military service. Investigation  uncovered millions of hryvnias in unexplained income among MSEC senior officials.
