Russian troops have shelled the town of Kurakhove in the Pokrovsk suburbs, partially damaging the Ternivska Dam at the Kurakhove Reservoir, according to Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin.

The official warned that this attack can pose a potential threat to communities along the Vovcha River, both in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.   The water levels in the river within the Velyka Novosilka community has risen by 1.2 meters over Monday, which can spill trouble for thousands in the area.

“No residential flooding has been recorded yet! We continue to monitor the water level closely and are prepared for any developments,” Filashkin assured.

He promised to give prompt updates if conditions change.

Ukraine’s General Staff earlier reported that nearly one-third of all frontline clashes are currently concentrated in the Kurakhove direction.
