Ukraine’s capital will see an increase in checkpoints as part of ongoing security exercises, according to the Kyiv Military Administration.

City officials stressed the importance of enhancing “skills, coordination, and readiness among all structures responsible for maintaining order” in the capital during wartime.

“To ensure effective security, the Defense Forces of Kyiv, in collaboration with the Kyiv Administration, the National Police, and other structural units, regularly conduct training sessions,” the statement read.

Key components of the drills include:

  • deploying additional temporary checkpoints
  • installing warning signs and engineering barriers
  • practicing vehicle and document checks
  • demonstrating search and counter-diversion measures

The primary aim of these exercises is to “improve management systems, organization, and cooperation to safeguard public safety during potential escalations and enhance measures to protect civilians”.

The city administration said such drills will become a regular practice in Ukraine’s capital.
