On December 6-8, Kyiv hosted the finals of the Veterans’ Games, the adaptive sports’ event for Ukrainian veterans and injured servicemen and women. Its participants who come from all over the country earlier triumphed in regional stages competing in disciplines like CrossFit and esports.

The two-day esports finals featured tournaments in Counter-Strike 2, FIFA, and DOTA 2. On December 8, the CrossFit finals crowned the strongest competitors in each category.

The contest was attended by Natalia Kalmykova, Minister for Veterans Affairs, Tetiana Lomakina, the president’s advisor on accessibility, and representatives of veteran support organizations.

Organized by the Ministry for Veterans Affairs as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska, the games aim to promote physical and mental recovery for veterans while encouraging sports and a healthy lifestyle.

Regional qualifying stages were held in November in Kryvyi Rih, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Zhytomyr, with esports competitions also taking place online. This inclusive format allowed participants from across the country to join the competition.
