“Russia’s neo-imperial ambitions are crumbling,” says Ukraine’s UN envoy

Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Serhiy Kyslytsya, delivered a sharp rebuke to Russia during a UN Security Council meeting on December 16. His comments came in response to thinly-veiled threats from Russian envoy Vasily Nebenzya, who a day earlier touted Russia as a global superpower.
The Ukrainian diplomat dismissed Nebenzya’s rhetoric as delusional, claiming that Russia’s designs are steadily falling apart.
“Putin’s representative may threaten this Council and indulge in illusions of representing a superpower. But the reality is starkly different: Russia’s excessive neo-imperial ambitions are crumbling without respite,” he said.
Kyslytsya alluded to Russia’s intervention in Syria, describing it as a costly and pointless endeavor for the Kremlin. His wry prediction sees the same thing happening to Russia’s activities in Africa and its ongoing war in Ukraine.
“Putin’s so-called ‘short victorious war’ against Ukraine will end in disgrace. He knows this, just as he knows his own portraits will soon be ripped to pieces—not just in Syria, but in Russia too,” Kyslytsya emphasized.
