Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said the have detained a couple over alleged espionage in Donetsk, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, and Cherkasy regions.

The duo included a 27-year-old repeat offender and former drug dealer from Kramatorsk, and his 34-year-old partner. Looking for quick money on odd jobs sites, they said yes to the offer of Russian FSB.

Following orders from their handlers, the couple traveled across Ukraine, gathering coordinates for Russian missile and drone strikes and snooping on Ukraine’s air defenses.

Posing as a family, they rented apartments near potential Russian targets. Once settled, they installed mobile phones by windows to live-stream real-time footage.

The SBU arrested them in Kramatorsk, where they had returned to continue their snooping. The operatives also seized all mobile devices they used for their illegal activities.. The couple now faces charges of state treason.
