A Ukrainian soldier detained in Kramatorsk over espionage charges – SBU

Ukrainian security service said its operatives have detained  a 22-year-old Ukrainian soldier who was allegedly helping Russian troops to pinpoint their air artillery strikes against his own brigade.

The suspect, who served as a drone operator in one of the brigades stationed on the Kramatorsk front, was recruited in 2023 by a Russian FSB officer, identified as Dmitry Pavlovich Sorokaletov.

The soldier provided the FSB with coordinates of his unit near Chasiv Yar and also tried to snoop on thee locations of other Ukrainian units in the  area.

Investigation revealed that the soldier was on the radar of  Russian operatives after he left pro-Kremlin comments on Russian Telegram channels.

During the arrest, SBU seized mobile phones containing evidence of his cooperation with the enemy. The suspect is facing espionage charges under Article 111 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. He is now in custody and faces a potential life sentence along with the confiscation of his property.
