Anti-Corruption Bureau exposed agriculture minister on fraud

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine exposed a government official for taking over the state land.

The detainee is a current minister and former head of the agrarian committee of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to NABU, the detainee took possession of the state land worth 291 million hryvnias, and sought to obtain other plots of the state land worth 190 million hryvnias.

The criminal group, which was headed by the minister, included officials of the State Geo-cadastre. In 2017-2021, the participants of the group took possession of 1,250 land plots with a total area of 2,493 hectares, the value of which at the time of the crime was over UAH 291 million.

They also attempted to seize 3,282 hectares of land worth about UAH 190 million.

The NABU does not name the suspected minister, but among current government officials, the former head of the agrarian committee of the Verkhovna Rada is current agriculture minister Mykola Solskyi.
