A massive brawl errupted at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Chernihiv after an angry crowd of Russia-linked Othodox church supporters broke through the gates and stormed the cathedral.  According to reports, tensions flared up after the parish priest announced he was going over to a Ukraine-led Orthodox church.

The intruders  used tear gas and fire extinguishers against the people who were in the church at the moment,  in the heated altercation over the church’s change of jurisdiction.

One of the videos that emerged on social media minutes after the scuffle broke out shows a priest assaulting a man in the military uniform.

It should be noted that rioting was led by Metropolitan Feodosiy of the Russian-linked church as the crowd of his supporters tried to seize the cathedral, complaining the church’s change of jurisdiction was unfair.
