Former top Kyiv оfficial аccused of tax evasion schemes

Close Viktor Yanukovich ally and former Kyiv city administration official Volodymyr Makeyenko is facing charges of tax evasion, according to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

The investigation reveals that Makeenko had a network of shell companies. Registered in the name of his relatives, they generated “funds of dubious origin”, which were later transferred to his accounts. Between 2011 and 2018, Makeyenko quitely earned 387 million in income, but failing to pay  71.4 million in taxes.

He faces charges of tax evasion, which could send him to jail for three years and see his assets confiscated.
