On Wednesday, Kherson and Mykolaiv woke up to widespread power outages, with residents left in the dark. In Kherson, the entire city has been without electricity, according to the head of the Kherson Military Administration, Roman Mrochko.

“Kherson has lost power. Early reports suggest the whole city is affected. We’re looking into the cause. Stay tuned for updates,” Mrochko wrote in his statement.

The reason behind the blackout remains unclear, keeping residents of the war-ravaged cities on edge as they await more information.

Meanwhile, a similar situation unfolded in Mykolaiv, where most of the city also found itself without electricity. Regional governor Vitalii Kim assured residents that enemy attacks were not to blame for the outage.

“Many are without power. We’ve pinpointed the source of the failure, and it’s not a strike. If no further surprises pop up, we’ll fix it in a couple of hours,” wrote the governor.
