Russian forces launched one of the massive drone attacks on Ukraine’s capital , deploying 90 aerial targets in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to Ukraine’s air defense commander Mykola Oleshchuk, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 89 “Shahed” drones, which were launched launched from various locations in Russia, including Yeysk, Seshcha, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. One guided X-59 missile was launched from the Kherson region.
The general lauded the work of Ukraine’s air defenses claiming they shot down the missile and all drones.
“This is one of the most massive attacks by Shahed-131/136 strike drones. The enemy used the same number of Shahed drones on New Year’s Eve, January 1, 2024. Just like then, today Ukrainian air defenses stood firm and foiled the massive attack of enemy drones,” reported Oleksiy Oleshchuk.
It was made possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of “mobile fire teams from all Defense Forces of Ukraine, tactical aviation of the Air Force, army aviation of the Ground Forces, anti-aircraft missile units, and electronic warfare units of the Air Force”.
