According to the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, 70.4% of respondents are convinced that representatives of the LGBT community should have the same rights as other citizens of Ukraine.

“The number of Ukrainians who believe that LGBT people should have the same rights as the rest of the citizens of Ukraine is definitely growing: in 2024, 70.4% of them said so, which is 3.1% more than in 2023, and by 6.7% more than in 2022,” the statement says.

Regarding the rights of same-sex couples, 28.7% of respondents support the introduction of a registered civil partnership for them, provided for by draft law No. 9103, 25.6% are indifferent to it, and 35.7% are negative. Thus, as the sociologists note, more than half of Ukrainians have no objections to this.

If two years ago the gap between those who support civil partnership for same-sex couples and those who do not like it was 18.3% in favor of the latter, then in 2024 it decreased to 7%.

As in previous years, the vast majority of respondents (68.3%) have a positive attitude to the participation of LGBT people in the defense of Ukraine against Russian aggression, and the share of those who have a negative attitude to it has decreased to 7.1%.

At the same time, the experts note that, traditionally for LGBT polls, positive attitudes were shown by women and young people.
