Russia is ramping up offensive at Lyman and Kurakhove, – General Staff report

In its second July 7 update, Ukraine’s General Staff reported “intense” fighting across multiple fronts as Russian forces stepped up their offensive efforts. At least 117 combat clashes took place on Sunday, with the most intense fighting reported at Pokrovske, Lyman, and Kurakhove.

Russian forces launched two missiles, 362 kamikaze drones, and carried out 68 airstrikes, dropping some 90 guided bombs. Ukrainian troops also reported over 2,700 shelling incidents.

In Kharkiv, Ukrainian troops repelled three assaults near Liptsi, Starytsia, and Vovchansk.

The Kupiansk front saw Russian troops launch 10 attacks near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, and Stelmakhivka. Six attacks were repelled, and four combat engagements are still ongoing.

In Lyman, Ukrainian troops repelled 12 out of 14 Russian assaults near Nevske, Hrekivka, Makiivka, and Terny, with two still ongoing.

The Siversk front dealt with two Russian attempts to advance near Verkhniokamianske; both were pushed back.

In Kramatorsk, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks near Kalynivka, Hryhorivka, and Chasiv Yar.

On the Pokrovske front, Russian forces launched 45 attacks near New York, Prohres, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Kalynove, Lozuvatske, Novoselivka Persha, and Yasnobrodivka. Nine engagements continue. Russian troops suffered substantial losses: they lost 273 soldiers, one BMP-1, one Su-25 aircraft, and two vehicles. Ukrainian troops also hit two howitzers, one tank, and one BMP-2.

In Kurakhove, seventeen unsuccessful attacks were reported near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Kostiantynivka. Eight failed assaults occurred in Vremivka, with clashes taking place near Vodiane, Kostiantynivka, and Makarivka.

In Orikhiv and Prydniprovske, Ukrainian forces continue to repel enemy attacks.

The General Staff said the Ukrainian defense forces “are firmly holding their positions,” while the 79th Air Assault Brigade received a special mention for their “courage in repelling the enemy attacks.”
