On New Year’s Day, Russia carried out a major missile strike on the Shostka community in Sumy region, which caused extensive damage to the city’s infrastructure.

The attacks came around 8:00 a.m., with early reports suggesting the use of Kh-22/Kh-32 missiles launched from Tu-22M3 bombers.

Mykola Noga, the head of the Shostka community, confirmed the strikes destroyed several key infrastructure facilities and caused damage to at least 12 apartment buildings, two educational institutions, and multiple social service sites.

Emergency responders are working at the scene to assess and address the damage.

The Sumy Regional Military Administration (OVA) warned that the missile assault on Shostka is ongoing.
