Thermal generation suffered the biggest losses during Russian strikes, – experts

The Russian invasion caused losses to the Ukrainian energy sector totaling more than 56 billion dollars. According to the Kyiv School of Economics, thermal generation suffered the greatest losses and needs the most funds for restoration.

As a result of the full-scale Russian invasion, the energy sector suffered direct losses and indirect financial losses in the amount of 56.2 billion dollars.

50.5 billion dollars are needed for the complete reconstruction of the destroyed objects according to the principle ‘rebuild better than it was’.

According to the estimates of the Kyiv School of Economics, thermal generation suffered direct losses in the amount of more than 5 billion dollars, which is the largest amount among all types of generation.

Russian troops also destroyed all oil refineries in the territory of Ukraine and a significant part of the infrastructure for the storage of oil and oil products.
