Ukraine marks Statehood Day

On July 15, Ukraine celebrates Statehood Day. The Day of Ukrainian Statehood was established by the presidential decree of in 2021 and adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on May 31, 2022.
This holiday is observed on the day when Ukrainian Christian churches honor the memory of Kyiv Prince Volodymyr the Great and celebrate the Day of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine.
The Day is intended to mark the more than a thousand-year tradition of the Ukrainian statehood, which began in medieval Kyiv.
In 988, Prince Volodymyr the Great of Kyiv adopted Christianity as the state religion, which became a civilizational choice for Kyivan Rus. Kyivan Rus maintained political, economic and cultural ties with most of the European countries of that time.
