Ukraine returned 517 children deported to Russia, – ombudsman

During the meeting in Davos, Ukraine’s ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that Ukraine managed to return from Russia 517 illegally deported children and 2,828 adults.

Lubinets called on the countries of the world to urgently solve to the issue of returning all Ukrainians home.

‘Our task is to bring everyone back! Therefore, the international community should immediately consolidate its efforts in this direction,’ the ombudsman stressed.

Children who were deported to Russia and relatives of civilians abducted by the Russian Federation also spoke at the meeting in Davos.

Dmytro Lubinets also raised the issue of the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war and the terrible violation of the international humanitarian law regarding them: inhuman conditions of detention, torture, executions.

The ombudsman expressed gratitude to Switzerland for organizing the meeting and supporting Ukraine.
