Ukraine’s postal service, Ukrposhta, said on Monday it will introduce new delivery pricing starting January 1, 2025. Based on the package’s volume rather than its weight, the new shipping rates policy is ” inspired by global market leaders like FedEx and UPS”, said Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilyansky.
The updated rates will have eight categories depending on volume of parcels, with the lowest category’s price remaining unchanged. Customers will be offered “Priority”option for faster delivery and “Basic” option for savings of up to 50% compared to competitor rates.
Costs will be fixed while customers willl be able to calculate their shipping rates using either their own packaging or standard Ukrposhta boxes. Smilyansky said Ukrposhta would provide packages free of charge and offer boxes at prices up to 50% lower than market rates.
Notorious supporter of the concept “in order for a cow to eat less and give more milk, it needs to be fed less and milked more” “Servant of the People” Danylo Hetmantsev, under the guise of “business requirements”, registered a draft law on the collection of VAT on all foreign purchases, regardless of their value. In other words, every Ukrainian, buying goods of any value and purpose abroad, when sending them to Ukraine, will have to pay an additional fifth part, or 20% of the cost of the goods.
