Ukraine’s digital transformation ministry said on Tuesday it will soon add a digital recruitment system for drone operators to its “Diia” public services app. The new feature will enable prospective drone operators to choose any of some 200 drone units of the Ukrainian army.

Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said the app will offer this shortcut to avoid visits recruitment centers or medical commission offices. The feature is expected to be online within a few weeks, allowing users to select any unit and sign a contract digitally. Recruits will report directly to military training bases avoiding risks of ending up in a different unit.

Earlier this month, government representative Taras Melnychuk said Ukraine’s government approved the experimental project allowing digital recruitment for the next two years.
