Ukrainian police raids Ukrzaliznytsia offices over ticket schemes

Simultaneous police raids were carried out Wednesday morning at “Ukrzaliznytsia” (Ukrainian Railways), which ar part of the investigation into “alleged misconduct by officials managing international passenger train services”, said Ukraine’ National Police in a statement.

The investigion is gathering evidence on a group of Ukrzaliznytsia officials who are allegedly involved in schemes that led to a “ticket shortage on high-demand routes”

The raids and searches in the residents of suspects and Ukrzaliznytsia offices are conducted  by the Department of Strategic Investigations, Kyiv police investigators, and Solomyansky District Prosecutor’s Office/

At the same time, searches will be carried out aboard international trains during their departures and arrivals.

Authorities have asked passengers to cooperate and understand the “necessity of these measures”. Detailed information will be released upon the conclusion of the investigative actions.
