The city of Zaporizhzhia may end up completely without power in winter months. The cold prediction came from regional governor Ivan Fedorov. In his interview for “United News” telethon, he said the people have to be ready for the worst-case scenario amid uncertain power conditions.

“I’m telling everyone we must prepare for a complete lack of electricity. This may sound harsh, but we have to be ready for the worst. If things turn out better, then that’s fantastic,” Fedorov stated.

The governor also the city will need more generators to provide backup in the situation when centralized power is not available at water-pumping stations in Zaporizhzhia this winter.

To address heating needs, authorities plan to equip major boiler stations in the region with cogeneration units. The first of these units should arrive in Zaporizhzhia by November 15, marking a critical step in preparing for winter.
