On April 24, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Jeremy Hunt who is now in Kyiv.
Zelensky thanked for the support of Ukraine and the largest package of military aid from Great Britain worth 500 million pounds, which was announced the day before.
The President also noted the decision of Great Britain to increase the financing of military expenses of the government of the United Kingdom to 2.5% of GDP.
‘Thank you for such a step, for a decision that will not only contribute to helping Ukraine in the future, but will also strengthen security in Europe. It is very important. It would be good if other European states also increased their defense spending. This would significantly strengthen the defense capability of Europe in the face of possible challenges,’ Zelensky said.
The sides also discussed the sanctions policy, in particular, the expansion of sanctions against the Russian Federation and the impossibility of circumventing them by Russia.
